This week within my job role I looked at Mode of address, this was to look at the different types of way I could present myself as a presenter, I also had to look at how I wanted to be presented. In more detail I needed to make sure out of the modes of address I tried that the one I would pick would be appropriate for the style of show, appropriate for the audience and appropriate in terms of themes. So whilst considering all of that me and Shriya my colleague who is also a presenter decided to do some research on various shows and look at how each presenter presented themselves and why they did so.
After looking at other Presenters me and Shriya decided to film ourselves doing a range of different mode of addresses this was so we could decide what fitted our personalities best and the actual show. We came up with different modes of address and some of these were funny, serious, aggressive, ghetto/street etc this was to test lots of different addresses. We also came up with the final decision this week with what mode of address we would be using on the live show day.
What was the groups response to your ideas/progress?
This week we was not able to have a production meeting, so I was not able to tell the whole group about my progress and my idea's. However each individual had to film there self saying what they had done this week and what they would be doing next week, this was so that everyone could see where most people got up to and so on. So after uploading my video of me talking about what I had done so far I will go and see what the other crew members think about what me and Shriya have agreed on (Mode of address).
What has been successful this week?
This week my overall task that I got set to do with Shriya which was on modes of address was successful because we both came to a decision of what mode of address to use for the show and we also gained a lot of knowledge of how we should present ourselves which has helped us out for the filming of the main show. I also feel like the analysis of each of the modes of address went well because we both gave our opinions on each of the modes of address and we always referred back to the brief.
What do you need to change or develop and why?
I feel that my work does not need to be change because me and Shriya analyzed all the video's and also thought very carefully about what we wanted to portray in each video, the only thing I could say I would like to develop is the way the guests talk so what I will like them to talk like from the way they present themselves because it is important that you can see three different characters.
What do you intend to do next week?
Next week I will be looking at hair, make up and costume with Shriya. We will be looking at how the way some presents them-self can give an image, for example what we wear needs to link back to the theme being urban so we would have to have a close look at different urban outfits and look at what may work and what may not work. So by doing this process will help me and Shriya decide what to wear for the actual live day making sure we consider the colour scheme and also the colour of the lighting, making sure everything goes together.
We will also look at different make up tone and whether its ideal to wear mineral foundation or powder because on camera you do not want to look shiny because of the light contract. So its very important for me and Shriya to get a feel of what the lights will look like with our make up and what make up features look better with lighting i.e dark smokey eyes or very calm eyeshadow.
How did you work with your hierarchical peers this week? Was it effective?
This week I mainly worked with my fellow presenter Shriya because we both had to look at the different types of modes of address and this had to be an overall agreement of what mode of address we would be going for. We also had to work with the lighting/set designer being Alysia so she could have a look at what lighting fits the theme better and what lighting brings out me and Shriya. I also had to do a lot of work besides the director because it was important that everything me and Shriya had been doing that he knew about it, we also had to make sure he had our full script.
I felt overall working alongside my co-presenter was affective because we both had idea's that we could both share which made our overall look and image as presenters seem more engaging, it was also affective that we got to do the mode of address together because it has helped prepare us for the live day.
It was also affective working with the lighting/set designer because if gave me an understanding of what the lighting would be like which then helped me decide of what colour would best work with the lighting colour.
